Rupee Weakens Amid Rising Geopolitical Tensions and Higher Oil Prices
The Indian rupee weakened on Thursday, falling to 95.84 against the US dollar in early trade due to rising geopolitical tensions and higher crude oil prices.
Forex traders attributed the decline to a lack of support from foreign capital inflows, which was offset by selling pressure in the domestic equity market and a strengthening American currency.
The rupee had ended Wednesday's session at 95.73 against the US dollar after appreciating 16 paise.
Oil prices rose again past $100 a barrel due to a lack of diplomatic progress over the West Asia peace, with Brent crude futures trading lower by 0.97% at $102.08 per barrel compared to late February levels.
