Singapore Airlines Reconnects with Madrid After 22-Year Hiatus
Singapore Airlines is reviving its Madrid route after a 22-year hiatus. The carrier will resume five weekly flights to Madrid via Barcelona on October 26, using Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This marks the airline's first direct service to Madrid since 2004.
The new route will operate as a single leg from Singapore to Barcelona nonstop, followed by a continuation to Madrid. All flights will feature Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins on the A350-900. The Barcelona segment will increase from twice weekly to five times weekly, while Madrid will receive five weekly round-trips.
The return of the Madrid route adds to Singapore Airlines' European network, which now spans 15 destinations. This expansion is part of the airline's efforts to enhance connectivity between Asia and Europe. Passengers can now connect from major cities in Australia and New Zealand to Madrid through Singapore's hub at Changi.
