SNB Keeps Rates Unchanged Amid Weakening Franc
The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has decided to maintain its key policy rate at 0%, marking the fifth consecutive meeting without any changes. This decision aligns with market expectations.
The SNB noted that inflation has accelerated since June, driven primarily by higher energy prices. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.8% year-on-year in August, double the pace recorded in July.
In its statement, the central bank emphasized that medium-term inflationary pressure remains modest and that monetary policy is appropriate to keep inflation within the range consistent with price stability and to support economic development.
