South Korea's Stock Market Faces Uncertainty Amid Rising US Interest Rates
The South Korean stock market is facing growing uncertainty due to rising U.S. interest rates.
A rate hike in the U.S. is becoming increasingly likely, with the probability of a 25bp increase in September's benchmark interest rate rising to 58.4% from 49.4% the previous day, according to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) FedWatch.
The key variables for the domestic stock market this week are expected to be the producer price index (PPI), consumer price index (CPI), and the 10-year U.S. Treasury bond rate in August, which will be announced from the 10th to the 11th local time.
As U.S. employment indicators came out stronger than expected on the 4th, the possibility of a rate hike by the Federal Reserve System (Fed) grew again, causing volatility in the stock market.
