Suzuki Slams Carney's Climate Policies as 'Fucked Up' and Destructive

Nobel laureate and environmental activist David Suzuki has spoken out against Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's climate policies, calling them 'fucked up' and driving Canada into a ditch.

Carney, who took office in March 2025, has canceled the consumer carbon tax, repealed a mandate to phase out gas-powered cars, and scrapped an emissions cap on oil and gas production, citing economic costs. Suzuki argues that this is a fundamental mistake, as our survival and well-being depend on Mother Earth.

Suzuki, who hosted The Nature of Things for decades, expressed frustration at the disconnect between basic human needs and economic systems. He criticized Carney's approach to climate action, saying it prioritizes economic growth over emissions reduction.

'He still believes the economy must be kept going the way it is and that it can be used to keep emissions down and keep the economy going,' Suzuki said. 'I think it's impossible.'
