Trump Demands Lowest Interest Rates Globally, Targets Fed Policy
President Trump is calling on the Federal Reserve to reduce interest rates to achieve the world's lowest borrowing costs. On Air Force One, he stated that 'rates should be lowered' and expressed frustration that other countries have lower interest rates.
Trump pointed out that certain nations pay less in interest rates than the US, emphasizing the need for America to lead with the cheapest rates globally. He praised Fed Chair Kevin Warsh but criticized the other board members, describing them as 'very political.'
The current benchmark rates sit around 3.5-3.75 percent following earlier adjustments. Trump has repeatedly urged lower rates since installing Warsh, arguing they would boost the economy without direct White House interference.
