The claim comes amid concerns about the Fed's independence. Unlike his predecessors, Trump has publicly commented on interest rate policy, calling for lower rates and stating that Warsh may decide otherwise.

Warsh himself said he is willing to listen to the president or anyone else regarding rates but will make his own decisions. Direct contact between the US President and Federal Reserve Chair has been rare in recent years.
