Trump Sees Canada Trade Deal on Horizon as Diesel Prices Remain High
President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about resolving the ongoing trade dispute with Canada. He believes that Canadian officials will approach the US within the next three or four weeks to negotiate a new trade deal, which would eliminate all tariffs and lead to a fair agreement for both countries.
The real issue driving up diesel prices in the US is not production, but rather distribution. According to Phillip Bruner, a professor at the University of Washington's Foster School of Business, the cost of moving fuel from inland regions to coastal areas is adding pressure to prices.
Gold has been underperforming expectations despite geopolitical tensions and rising inflation. The metal is currently trading about 25% below its January high, with markets assigning a 70% probability of a Federal Reserve rate increase, which puts gold's performance and Treasury yields under scrutiny.
The Trump administration has proposed changes to the Head Start program, but these have faced opposition from advocates who are urging the government to abandon the plans. Public comments on the proposals will be due on Tuesday, after which the Department of Health and Human Services will review the feedback before making a decision.
