Trump's Desperate Bid for Midterm Support Falls Flat

Donald Trump is worried about the upcoming midterm elections, where control of the Senate is at stake. With five senate seats up for grabs, Trump's administration has largely failed to meet campaign promises, which are expected to cost Republicans their majority in November.

In his book 'The Art of The Deal', Trump wrote: 'You can't con people, at least not for long.' He applied this rule during his presidency, where he promised to restore the economy through tariffs but ultimately delivered nothing. Tariffs created a trade war with Canada, which imposed retaliatory tariffs on hundreds of products, raising prices and affecting consumers.

Trump also failed to make housing more affordable, initially planning to stop institutional investors from buying single-family homes. However, he later changed his tune, saying 'We're not gonna destroy the value of their homes so that somebody who didn't work very hard can buy a home.'

The 'affordability crisis' has been dismissed by Trump as a 'fake issue', and he has promised a $5,000 stimulus to every US citizen if Republicans win the midterms. Economists predict this move will increase inflation.
