UK Gold Investing Retreats Amid Interest-Rate Uncertainty
Gold investing in the UK has retreated from June's rebound, according to new data from BullionVault. The UK Gold Investor Index eased back as the price of bullion slowed its pace of decline. This is despite central bank gold buying supporting the market.
Adrian Ash, director of research at BullionVault, notes that 'while gold tends to thrive on uncertainty, it's really not enjoying the current uncertainty over US Fed or Bank of England interest rates.'
The number of UK private investors buying gold in July dropped 19.8% from June's count, while those selling gold fell by 19.4%. The UK Gold Investor Index fell by 1.2 points to 55.0.
