US Jobs Rebound Adds Fuel to Fed Rate Hike Speculation

The US economy showed a significant rebound in August, adding 162,000 jobs and reversing a summer slowdown in hiring. The nonfarm payrolls increase far exceeded economists' expectations of a 53,000 gain.

The unemployment rate remained steady at 4.1%, as predicted. August marked the strongest monthly job growth since March, providing a more encouraging picture of the labor market after a period of weakening employment.

Policymakers are now likely to consider next week's Consumer Price Index report before making their final decision on interest rates ahead of the September 15-16 policy meeting. The August jobs report may not be the sole determining factor, with inflation remaining a primary concern for the Federal Reserve.
