US Labor Market Shows Weak Job Growth in September, Unemployment Rate Rises
The US labor market reported a weaker-than-expected jobs growth in September, adding only 29,000 positions last month. This is significantly lower than the 90,000 jobs that economists had forecasted.
The unemployment rate also rose unexpectedly to 4.2%, up from August's 4.1% reading, which had been expected to hold steady.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics' Nonfarm Payrolls report revealed that the labor market has been losing steam since the summer, with downward revisions in recent months painting a softer picture of hiring trends.
