The US stock market kicked off Thursday on a positive note as oil prices retreated and the Federal Reserve's first interest rate hike under Chair Kevin Warsh reassured investors of its commitment to curbing inflation.

Oil prices have been a major concern for markets, but their decline has provided some relief. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 420.6 points, or 0.82%, at the open to 51,882.53, while the S&P 500 increased by 79.6 points, or 1.05%, to 7,631.44.

The Nasdaq Composite also saw a significant gain, rising 399.4 points, or 1.54%, to 26,377.864. The market's positive reaction suggests that investors are cautiously optimistic about the Fed's decision to raise interest rates and its potential impact on the economy.
