Missouri Jobs Report: 34,100 New Positions Added Since Last Year
The state of Missouri experienced a gain in nonfarm payroll employment in August 2026, with a total of 3,015,700 jobs. This represents an increase of 2,100 jobs from July's revised figure.
Private industry employment saw the largest gains, increasing by 2,400 jobs over the month. On the other hand, government employment decreased by 300 jobs.
In terms of year-over-year growth, Missouri's nonfarm payroll employment increased by 34,100 jobs from August 2025 to August 2026. The unemployment rate also saw a decrease, dropping half a percentage point from 4 percent in August 2025 to 3.5 percent in August 2026.
