Veteran Strategist David Zervos Joins U.S. Treasury Department

David Zervos, a veteran Wall Street strategist with 35 years of experience, has joined the U.S. Treasury Department as a counselor in the Office of the Secretary.

Zervos comes from Jefferies, where he spent nearly two decades as chief market strategist and headed the global macro division for Leucadia Asset Management.

His new role puts him inside the institution responsible for managing federal finances and overseeing the government's borrowing programme, a position that requires expertise in areas such as interest rates, central banks, currencies, government bonds, and wider economic trends.

Zervos has previously discussed Treasury policies, including the use of bond buybacks to maintain liquidity and smooth market functioning, and has frequently commented on Federal Reserve policy and U.S. interest rates.
