Volkswagen's Limited Edition T-Cross Hits Japanese Market with Hefty Discounts
Volkswagen has introduced a limited edition of its T-Cross model in Japan, dubbed the TSI Active Essential. This version comes at a lower price point than the standard TSI Active, with a cost of 2,999,000 yen compared to 3,399,000 yen.
The difference is significant, with the Essential model being priced 11.8% lower than its more expensive counterpart. The production run for this limited edition is capped at 200 vehicles, which is likely to make it a rare find in Japan's car market.
Despite the lower price, Volkswagen has not compromised on the technical specifications of the TSI Active Essential. It still comes equipped with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 116 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG) and front-wheel drive.
The fuel economy is also similar to the standard model, with an official WLTC rating of 17.0 km/l, which translates to approximately 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers. The luggage capacity remains at 455 liters as well.
