737 MAX Software Glitch Identified by Boeing Amid FAA Investigation
Boeing has identified a software glitch in its 737 MAX aircraft that could cause an automated navigation system to fail during certain landings. The issue arises when pilots change their flight path due to a missed approach, potentially requiring manual control and disabling some autopilot features.
The problem was first reported to airlines operating the 737 MAX in August, with Boeing stating it did not pose a safety concern at the time. However, the company acknowledged that it would address the issue with a software update expected by early 2028.
Southwest Airlines and United Airlines, two major operators of the 737 MAX, have expressed concerns about the current software and prefer older versions. The FAA is investigating the matter, with Boeing engineers working on a permanent solution.
