Accenture and Google Cloud Launch Joint Group to Turn AI Pilots Into Working Business Systems

Google Cloud and Accenture have launched a joint business group to help companies turn experimental AI projects into working business systems. The new group, called the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, will be staffed by up to 1,000 engineers who work closely with customers to adapt AI technology to their specific needs.

The group's goal is to move beyond pilot projects and implement AI in a way that is integrated into the company's existing systems and processes. To achieve this, Google Cloud will provide training for Accenture engineers, and both companies will work together to develop reusable industry applications and dedicated centers to help customers expand adoption.

Accenture CEO Julie Sweet said that the group's approach involves building teams called 'pods' that combine engineers with industry, process, and data specialists. These pods will work closely with a customer's IT department and business leaders to redesign business processes around AI and make organizational and staffing changes as needed.

The joint announcement highlights the challenges companies face in implementing AI, including the need for bespoke engineering that can leave them dependent on vendors to maintain and extend their systems.
