AFT Union Reaches AI Privacy Agreement with Microsoft After Chinese Hack

A Cyber Safety Review Board, created in 2021 by executive order and led by Homeland Security, released a report detailing lapses by Microsoft that led to a targeted Chinese hack last year of top U.S. government officials' email. This included the email of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

The board's report found that these lapses allowed hackers to access sensitive information through Microsoft's products and services.

Recently, an AI privacy agreement has been reached between the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union and Microsoft in response to this incident. The AFT represents 1.7 million educators nationwide and aims to improve student data privacy.
