Agentic AI Spikes Network Traffic as YouTube Rolls Out Custom Feeds
YouTube has launched a new feature called 'custom feeds' that allows users to build their own algorithm. This means they can describe the types of videos they want to see or recommend, and YouTube's AI will create a feed based on those specifications. The prompt feature relies on Google Gemini AI model to build the feed around the request.
The company also launched new capabilities to 'Ask YouTube' like asking multiple questions as needed through an interactive experience. When searching for reviews of a specific product, users may receive organized video recommendations, such as a comparison table that includes product attributes and categories based on their preferences.
Cisco Systems released data today showing the impact of AI adoption rates on network capacity and speed. According to Cisco's report, 75% of companies have already deployed AI for network operations, with more than half running agentic AI systems. The data shows that AI traffic is on pace to double every six months.
Cisco found that tasks performed by agents can generate up to 450% more total network traffic when agentic AI is included. Companies are increasingly turning to AI and agent-driven networks, with many allowing AI agents to take on more responsibility with network operations.
