AI-Powered Virtual Assistant Cally Set for Rollout at Calvary Health Care
Calvary Health Care is set to introduce an AI-powered digital assistant for its 20,000 staff and volunteers. The virtual assistant, called 'Cally', will be integrated with the hospital's core systems and provide access to various operations data.
The new assistant is fluent in over 60 languages and has been tested based on feedback from a group of frontline participants and champions. Cally will enable staff to make queries about leave, track training requirements, and complete performance reviews.
Sutherland, the chief information officer at Calvary Health Care, highlighted that the hospital's staff are embracing AI more readily than expected. The tech behind Cally involved contributions from Anthropic, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Salesforce, Microsoft, and Cygnus Consulting.
Cally will be able to capture clinical notes in an ICU setting, generate AI discharge summaries in minutes, and provide access to knowledge bases of clinical care guidelines. Sutherland emphasized that the assistant's primary goal is to reduce administrative burdens so staff can focus on caring for others.
