Alaska Air Sees 737 MAX 10 Certification by End-September

Alaska Air is expecting certification of Boeing's 737 MAX 10 by the end of September, according to Chief Operating Officer Jason Berry. This would allow the airline to take delivery of its first aircraft next spring and put the MAX 10 into passenger service between April and mid-May.

The Federal Aviation Administration must certify the airplane before Boeing can begin deliveries, a process that has already been delayed several years.

Berry acknowledged that the tight timeline is 'sporting' but stated that the airline is not panicking yet. The certification of Alaska Air's heads-up display for pilots will also take a few months after the MAX 10 is certified by federal regulators.
