Allegiant Air Flight Diversions Highlight Regional Route Challenges

An Allegiant Air flight from Orlando Sanford to Greenville-Spartanburg was diverted to Charleston International Airport on August 2, 2026. The Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft landed safely in Charleston after departing nine minutes late at 6:19 AM.

The flight's original route was a nonstop corridor of 427 miles (687 kilometers) with an average duration of 1 hour and 23 to 28 minutes. However, the flight crew modified the destination mid-route, landing the aircraft safely at Charleston instead of completing its scheduled route to Greenville-Spartanburg.
