Alphabet Briefly Overtakes Nvidia as World's Most Valuable Company
Alphabet briefly surpassed Nvidia as the world's most valuable company on Tuesday. In extended trading, Alphabet's market capitalization reached $4.83 trillion, narrowly topping Nvidia's $4.80 trillion. However, by the close of the session, Nvidia reclaimed the lead with a market cap of $4.79 trillion.
The milestone marks the second time this year that Alphabet has surpassed Nvidia in terms of market value. The first instance occurred in 2024, and it highlights the divergent views between the two companies.
Alphabet's stock price jumped to a fresh high of $399.01 during extended trading, while Nvidia shares rose 0.5%. The surge in Alphabet's stock was driven by its recent earnings report, which highlighted strong growth in its cloud unit and search business.
