Amazon Adds Cybersecurity Expert Kevin Mandia to Board
Amazon has appointed cybersecurity expert Kevin Mandia to its board of directors. Mandia is a veteran of the field, having founded breach-investigation firm Mandiant, which Google acquired for $5.4 billion in 2022. He now leads AI security startup Armadin, which he founded last year.
Amazon highlighted cybersecurity as one of the most significant risks facing organizations today, with advances in AI making the threat landscape more complex. Mandia's appointment adds new expertise to the board, particularly in the area of AI security.
Mandia joins the board's Security Committee, which oversees Amazon's cybersecurity policies and response to major cyber incidents. He also sits on the Audit Committee, and was awarded 4,086 restricted stock units worth around $1.03 million at Amazon's closing price last week.
