Amazon AWS Drives Record Growth as Revenue Projection Hits $1 Trillion Mark
Amazon's Amazon Web Services (AWS) segment has reported impressive growth in its second quarter of 2026, with operating income up 63% and revenue up 37% year-over-year. This growth is attributed to strong performance in the AI and chip businesses. Looking ahead, AWS management projects that the company's revenue could eventually reach $1 trillion, supported by the fact that a significant portion of global IT spending remains on-premises.
This growth is also reflected in Amazon's overall quarterly results, which showed record sales of $200.6 billion and 43% operating income growth, driven mainly by AWS and advertising revenue.
