Amazon Blasts Accused Harasser as Opportunistic 'Not a Victim'

Amazon has come to the defense of comic book writer Ed Brubaker after a former production assistant (PA) on his series 'Criminal' accused him and Amazon MGM of harassment.

Ijaaz Noohu, a Sri Lankan American who worked on the show, sued Brubaker and Amazon in September, claiming he was subjected to racial and sexual harassment on set. The allegations include being rubbed without consent, being pranked with a 'bikini barista' establishment, and being subjected to demeaning ethnic stereotypes.

However, in a court filing, Amazon and Brubaker's lawyers argued that Noohu is an 'opportunist, not a victim.' They claim that the allegations are meritless and that Noohu waited 20 months before filing the lawsuit, which coincidentally came just before the press circuit for the show.

The lawyers also pointed out that the most sensational allegation, that Brubaker pointed a functional firearm at Noohu's face, is 'pure invention' and would have been reported by others on set if it had happened.
