Amazon Blocks Meta's AI Agent from Making Purchases on Its Store

Amazon has blocked Meta's Muse personal AI agent from making purchases on its store. The move comes after Amazon claimed that Meta never informed it about Muse accessing the site, and the agent does not identify itself when it makes transactions.

The retailer also expressed security concerns, stating that Muse can capture and store customer credentials, posing a risk to its users. In response, Amazon notified customers who attempted to use Muse with a pop-up notification citing Amazon's Conditions of Use.

Meta had previously assured at Muse's launch that the assistant has 'no visibility into people's passwords or payment methods.' However, Amazon said it was evaluating next steps after losing an appeal in its suit against Perplexity in August. Amazon has blocked other agentic tools since 2025, including those from ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
