Amazon Boosts Employee Pay and Perks Amid Labor Market Pressures
Amazon is increasing its starting hourly wage for full-time operations employees in the US by $1 to $20 per hour. The average wage will now be nearly $24 an hour, with total compensation of over $32 per hour including benefits. This change takes effect on September 27.
The company is also introducing new benefits for its employees, including a 10% discount on eligible groceries and everyday essentials at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market online, as well as 20% off at physical Whole Foods stores. The discount can be combined with existing Prime member discounts.
Additionally, Amazon is rolling out access to qualified employees and their families for a membership in First Tech Federal Credit Union, which provides low-cost banking services that can be kept for life. No credit history is required to open an account.
