Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport

A cargo plane operated by Amazon's Prime Air crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring several others. The Boeing 767 aircraft, which was converted to a cargo plane in 2015, overran the runway after arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The plane plowed across a road used by warehouse workers and other businesses surrounding the airport, striking vehicles and bursting into flames. Five people were killed, three critically injured, and two others hospitalized with less severe injuries.

A team led by National Transportation Safety Board Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy has been sent to investigate the cause of the crash. The investigation will examine whether weather played a role in the incident, as thunderstorms and wind gusts were recorded in the area at the time.
