Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport, Killing Five
A Boeing 767-300 cargo plane operated by 21 Air crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing five people and injuring five others. The aircraft was attempting to land on Runway 30 when it overshot the runway and careened off into a nearby road, striking two vehicles.
The plane, which was carrying a cargo of over 100 tons, remained airborne for an extended period before finally coming to rest near a parking lot about 1,300 feet past the paved surface. The crash left a trail of wreckage, including airbags, parts of the aircraft and passenger vehicles, and destroyed fencing.
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy described the incident as 'utter devastation' during a news conference on Monday. She stated that recovery operations are ongoing and that the NTSB will not determine a probable cause for the crash on scene.
