Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes in Miami, Five Fatalities Confirmed

On February 16th at 2:00 p.m., Prime Air Flight 7598, an Amazon cargo plane operated by 21 Air, failed to stop on the runway during landing at Miami International Airport (MIA) and overran it. The Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, traveled off the airfield perimeter and collided with several vehicles on the adjacent roadway, including semi-trucks and passenger cars.

The impact sparked a severe fire, sending thick clouds of black smoke billowing into the sky. A massive emergency response was dispatched to the crash site, involving nearly 200 firefighters and 60 fire apparatuses from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR). The team conducted firefighting operations while simultaneously performing heavy rescue operations to free individuals pinned inside both the aircraft and the struck ground vehicles.

The FAA issued a full ground stop after the incident, closing all runways and taxiways at MIA. Although the ground stop was later lifted in the afternoon, officials warned of significant flight delays and reduced operational capacity due to the disabled aircraft and ongoing emergency operations.
