Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes in Miami, Killing Five
An Amazon Prime cargo plane overshot the runway at Miami International Airport on September 6, killing five people and injuring six others. The Boeing 767-300, operated by 21 Air for Amazon, was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico when it went off the runway shortly before 2 p.m.
The plane struck several vehicles in a nearby business parking lot before bursting into flames. Over 60 fire-rescue units responded to the scene, with more than 160 flights canceled and roughly 325 delayed due to the incident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The NTSB team, led by Chair Jennifer Homendy, is expected to provide additional information on Monday.
