Amazon Delivery Contractors Shut Down in Los Angeles, Affecting Hundreds
Two Amazon delivery contractors in Los Angeles have announced permanent closures and layoffs. DLVR, an independent logistics company based in Culver City, will close permanently on December 4, laying off 60 workers. The company's owner, Ian Silverstein, did not respond to requests for comment.
In addition to DLVR, another Amazon delivery contractor, Capstone Delivery Inc., filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice indicating it would permanently shutter on November 21 and lay off 106 employees. Katia Daher-Anenberg, listed as the owner and operator of Capstone, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The closures are part of a larger trend in Los Angeles County, where several companies have announced layoffs in recent months. McKinley Paper and Packaging Co., a packaging manufacturer, will permanently close its Cerritos facility on November 30, laying off 45 workers. The company's parent is Bio Pappel, which has 17 industrial plants and facilities across the US.
