Amazon Faces Deadline for $2.5 Billion Prime Settlement Refunds
Amazon customers who were enrolled in Prime between 2019 and 2025 may be eligible for a refund as part of a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission.
The FTC alleged that Amazon used 'dark patterns' to trick customers into signing up for Prime subscriptions that automatically renewed, and made the cancellation process highly complicated.
Amazon denied wrongdoing but agreed to pay a $1 billion civil penalty and distribute $1.5 billion to affected customers.
Eligible customers who didn't receive an automatic payment will need to file a claim by July 27, 2026, to receive a refund of up to $51.
