Amazon Fire TV gets smarter with new Alexa+ hub and entertainment updates
Amazon has announced two significant updates for its Fire TV platform, set to roll out later this year. The first is a major software update that introduces a new Alexa+ hub, redesigned entertainment hubs, and a revamped Amazon Music app. The Alexa+ hub will allow users to interact with Alexa+ more directly, see real-time results, and receive personalized suggestions based on their watch history and streaming subscriptions. Additionally, the Live tab will now integrate live content from over 40 streaming services, making it easier to find and watch live events like sports games.
The Games hub is also getting a redesign, showcasing games from cloud gaming apps like Xbox and Nvidia GeForce Now, allowing users to browse and stream games directly from the hub. The Amazon Music app will feature a more modern and organized interface, making it easier to navigate music, podcasts, and playlists. Lastly, the Fire TV mobile app will gain Alexa+ integration, enabling users to ask for content recommendations and add them to their watchlist.
These updates will begin rolling out later this year, starting with Fire TV users in the US on devices like the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), Fire TV Cube, and Ember TVs. More devices and countries will receive these features early next year.
