Amazon Invests $230M in Higher Pay, Benefits for 100,000 Whole Foods Workers
Amazon is making one of its largest investments in U.S. Whole Foods workers, committing $230 million to higher pay and expanded benefits for over 100,000 employees.
The company announced that starting September 28, hourly workers will receive a significant pay raise, bringing the average store wage above $21 per hour. When combined with new benefits, total compensation for full-time team members is expected to rise by more than 75%.
Amazon's VP of Worldwide Grocery, Jason Buechel, explained that employee feedback has driven these changes, citing concerns over pay growth and comprehensive health coverage. In response, Whole Foods workers will have access to a range of new benefits, including expanded healthcare options starting at just $5 per week.
