Amazon Issues £4.2B Sterling Notes, Diversifies Debt Profile
Amazon has strengthened its presence in the UK by issuing £4.242 billion in sterling-denominated senior notes, which will mature between 2029 and 2045 with varying coupon rates from 5.200% to 6.650%. The company expects approximately £4.235 billion in net proceeds from this transaction, solidifying its access to the UK capital markets and providing long-term financing flexibility.
The notes were issued under an existing indenture structure, with Wells Fargo Bank as prior trustee and Computershare Trust Company as successor trustee. By tapping sterling markets across multiple maturities, Amazon diversifies its debt profile, potentially optimizing its capital structure and funding costs while offering institutional investors a broader duration range for exposure to the company's credit.
