Amazon MGM Fires Back at Harassment Lawsuit, Calls Allegations 'Pure Invention'

A production assistant on Amazon MGM's upcoming series 'Criminal' has filed a lawsuit alleging racial and sexual harassment. However, Amazon MGM has responded by filing a motion to dismiss the suit, calling the allegations 'pure invention.'

The plaintiff, Ijaaz Noohu, claimed that showrunner Ed Brubaker made unwanted physical contact and comments about his hair, and even pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger. However, Amazon's lawyers argue that there is no record of this incident and that Noohu fabricated it to extort money.

In its demurrer, Amazon points out that Noohu never reported any harassment during his time on the show and had even emailed Brubaker in 2024 asking for a promotion. The lawyers also note that it is implausible that no one would have reported the alleged gun incident, especially given the industry's focus on safety following the 'Rust' set shooting.

Noohu allegedly sat on his allegations for nearly two years until the press tour for 'Criminal' began, in order to maximize leverage. Amazon's lawyers accuse him of being an 'opportunist, not a victim.'
