Amazon Plane Crash Victims' Families Sue After Fatal Runway Incursion

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by the wife of Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, one of four people killed when an Amazon-branded plane overran a runway at Miami International Airport. The crash also injured five others and destroyed several vehicles.

The Boeing 767-300 aircraft was operated by 21 Air on behalf of Amazon Air Cargo and was returning from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it landed and then overshot the runway. The plane's two pilots, Joseph Carroll and Jaime Felipe Silva Molina, survived the crash but are named as defendants in the lawsuit.

The suit alleges that the pilots attempted a high-speed, tailwind-affected landing and cites pilot error and inadequate training as contributing factors. It also accuses Amazon, 21 Air, and the cargo airline of multiple failures leading to the crash.
