Apple Prepares for Foldable iPhone Launch Amid Rising Component Costs
Apple's upcoming iPhone launch is set to take place on September 9, and analysts are watching for signs of how the company will address higher component costs. Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan found that Apple's stock has recovered in the weeks after its new iPhone unveilings.
Mohan's research discovered that out of 17 iPhone launch events since 2007, Apple's stock rose in the 60 days following each event. The largest increase was a 20% gain recorded 60 days after the iPhone 11 launch in 2019.
The company is expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro range, new Apple Watch models and software updates featuring artificial intelligence capabilities. Citi analysts estimate that the foldable iPhone could start at more than $2,000 and sell around 5 million units in the second half of 2026.
Investors will be looking for signs of how Apple plans to manage pricing and costs in a tighter component market. The company faces higher memory costs due to increased demand for memory used in artificial intelligence servers.
