Amazon Prime Video Brings AI-Powered Lip Syncing to Maxton Hall

Amazon Prime Video has unveiled a new AI-powered technology that synchronizes actors' lip movements with human-dubbed audio, starting with its popular series 'Maxton Hall'. The feature went live on Wednesday for the first two seasons of the German YA series and will be used for its third season, which premieres later this year.

'Maxton Hall', based on the 2018 novel 'Save Me' by Mona Kasten, has set a record as Prime's most-watched international original series ever. The new technology aims to create a more seamless and immersive viewing experience for global customers, while also expanding the reach of creators.

Raf Soltanovich, VP of technology at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, said that 'creative oversight' will ensure the artistic vision is preserved in using this technology. This innovation comes as Amazon continues to invest in AI tools, including those for dubbing movies into English and Latin American Spanish.
