A $1.5 billion settlement between Amazon and consumers affected by allegedly deceptive practices has led to accelerated payments for eligible Prime subscribers.

The Federal Trade Commission announced that more than $845 million in payments have already been issued to consumers, with the maximum payment cap raised from $51 to $200 total.

Under a new joint motion approved by the federal court, Amazon will begin issuing automatic payments to millions of additional consumers who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits in a one-year period.

The revised order eliminates the need for consumers to submit claims or additional paperwork to Amazon, with payments made via electronic payment (Venmo or PayPal) or mailed check.
