Amazon-Size Damage: What Would Happen If Ukraine's Drone Campaign Hit the US E-commerce Giant?

A recent Ukrainian drone campaign has targeted Wildberries' logistics facilities in Russia, causing significant damage to the e-commerce giant's operations. According to reports, up to 10% of Wildberries' logistics capacity, equivalent to 5.9 million square feet of warehouse space, has been damaged or destroyed.

To put this into perspective, if Amazon were to suffer a similar loss, it would be like taking out over 44.5 million square feet of logistics space, an area larger than New York City's Central Park.

Supply chain experts warn that the impact on consumers and businesses would be significant. 'Say goodbye to same-day and next-day deliveries,' said Seçkin Özkul, Director of the University of South Florida's Supply Chain Innovation Lab. 'Orders will arrive late, and they'd be split across different shipments.'

The resilience of Amazon's decentralized network means that it can absorb a certain level of disruption before major impacts are felt. However, experts caution that multiple failures in key facilities could have a cascading effect on the entire network.
