Amazon Slams Brakes on Device Discounts Amid Memory Chip Shortage
Amazon has quietly raised prices on several of its popular devices, including Echo smart speakers, Kindle e-readers, Fire TV streaming devices, and Eero mesh routers.
The price hikes range from a 42% increase for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max to a 60% jump for the Echo Dot.
According to Amazon, the price increases are due to 'significant increases in memory and storage component costs.'
This shortage is driven by AI data center demand, with companies like Apple, Microsoft, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus also affected.
