Amazon Stock Climbs on Launch of Prime Big Deal Days Event
Amazon (AMZN) stock saw a modest 0.6% rise on Tuesday following the company's announcement of its Prime Big Deal Days event for 2026. This initiative marks Amazon's strategy to extend the holiday shopping season earlier, offering exclusive discounts and deals to Prime members. The event, which began on Tuesday and runs through Wednesday, provides consumers with a 48-hour window to access some of the lowest prices of the year, including discounts on popular brands like LEGO, La Roche-Posay, and UGG.
To maintain consumer engagement, Amazon plans to roll out new deals at three specific times each day: midnight, 8 a.m., and 1 p.m. PDT. Some of the notable discounts include up to 36% off a Samsung 55-inch The Frame Smart TV, up to 25% off a Canon Ivy 2 Mini Photo Printer, and up to 43% off an HP OmniBook 3 16-inch laptop. Other highlighted deals feature a UGG Euphoria Throw Blanket with up to 28% off and an Alphabet Google Nest Thermostat with up to 31% off.
The Prime Big Deal Days event is part of Amazon's broader effort to capture a larger share of the holiday shopping revenue. By initiating the shopping season earlier, Amazon aims to boost its earnings, typically the highest during the holiday quarter. The company hopes to encourage consumers to start shopping before Black Friday, potentially extending the shopping period by nearly two months.
Analysts on Wall Street have given Amazon a Strong Buy consensus rating, based on 39 Buy and two Hold ratings over the past three months. The average stock price target for AMZN is $331.82, suggesting a potential 31.2% upside from current levels.
