Amazon is planning to offload around $8 billion worth of advanced Nvidia chips to investors via a special-purpose vehicle (SPV), according to a report by the Financial Times.

The cloud giant aims to strengthen its balance sheet by transferring thousands of Grace Hopper chips it has installed in US data centres into the SPV, which would then tap outside investors through debt issuance.

Amazon will lease back the advanced AI chips from the SPV and potentially adopt a more asset-light approach to its balance sheet.
