Amazon Teams Up With Electrovaya on Battery Supply Deal
Electrovaya's ELVA stock skyrocketed on Wednesday after announcing a commercial partnership with Amazon to supply batteries for its e-commerce business. The company will provide batteries for material-handling operations, as well as potential use in robotics and energy storage systems.
The agreement was sealed due to the clean safety record, low environmental impact, and cost-effectiveness of Electrovaya's Infinity Battery Technology compared to other options on the market. CEO Raj DasGupta commented that the company's technology has 'demonstrated real performance in demanding material handling environments.'
As part of the agreement, Electrovaya will issue Amazon warrants to purchase up to 13.9 million common shares. These warrants become fully vested once Amazon reaches a total purchase threshold of $280 million.
