Amazon Unveils New Kindle Lineup With Smaller Design and Improved Displays
Amazon has revamped its Kindle lineup with new features and designs to get customers excited ahead of the holiday season. The company announced three new e-readers, including a pocket-sized Kindle that is smaller and lighter than previous models.
The new standard Kindle boasts a 6-inch display, making it more convenient for carrying around. It also has 16GB of storage, a battery that lasts up to six weeks, and a flush-front design. The device opens books 30% faster than its predecessor, according to Amazon. Customers can opt for an aluminum back on this model, giving the e-reader a more stable feel.
The new Kindle is available starting at $149.99 in Ube and Graphite colors.
Amazon also introduced upgrades to the Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft models. The Paperwhite has improved displays and a thinner design with waterproofing and an adjustable warm light. It can last for 12 weeks on a single charge. A Signature edition of the Paperwhite offers more storage, auto-adjusting front light, and dock charging.
The Colorsoft model features a better display that makes colors feel more natural and lifelike while maintaining brightness. Amazon also introduced a Signature Edition of the Colorsoft with the same features as the Paperwhite Signature. The upgraded models are available for purchase on October 28, starting at $199.99 and $289.99 respectively.
Each of these three Kindles will be available in a Kids version, designed specifically for young readers. Amazon's Kids+ service is included with each purchase, offering games, videos, and books for children. These Kids Kindles start at $179.99.
