US Stocks Rise, Led by Boeing and Salesforce
The US stock market closed higher on Thursday, driven by gains in key sectors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.04%, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.20%. Boeing Co led the pack with a 3.35% gain, followed by Salesforce Inc and International Business Machines.
The biggest losers included Walt Disney Company, down 3.40%, and Amgen Inc, which shed 3.38%. The top performers on the S&P 500 were Accenture plc, up 15.78%, Synopsys Inc, with a gain of 12.79%, and Fair Isaac Corporation, which rose 11.69%.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1476 to 1235. The CBOE Volatility Index was up 0.24% at 16.38. In commodities trading, gold for December delivery was up 0.08% or $3.30 to $4,205.60 a troy ounce.
